Clifton cop Richard Klementovich Klementovich was sentenced to at least 8 1/2 years in
prison Wednesday for shooting at police during a standoff at his former wife's
home last year.
A Clifton cop who was arrested after a 10-hour
standoff with authorities at his former wife's home last year was Wednesday
sentenced to serve at least 8 1/2 years in prison, according to
PhillyBurbs.com.
Richard Klementovich, 43, entered a no-contest plea in a
Bucks County, Pa. courtroom a few weeks before jury selection was due to start
in his trial, the report said.
Klementovich barricaded himself in the Doylestown home of
his estranged wife and fired several rounds from a rifle at police hours before
surrendering to a negotiator.
He was sentenced to between 8 1/2 and 20 years in prison in
addition to 17 years probation. Klementovich also must pay $69,016 in
restitution for the repair of vehicles damaged during the standoff and refrain
from using steroids, PhillyBurbs.com reported.
Klementovich, who was out of work for two months with a back
injury before his arrest, pleaded no contest to attempted murder, aggravated
assault, reckless endangerment, assault of a law enforcement cop and other
charges.
